Known issues

Here the list of known issues, that very unlikely will be fixed. Windows 98 SE * Code, that keep only one instance of Koda, don't work. * Koda can't open executed *.exe (like itself) when trying to add it's icons. Windows Vista/Seven * Koda can load 16-bit icon libraries, but icons from them will not be visible in the script, since it's support was removed in Vista. So, better convert them into 32-bit ones. This can be done in the ImageList editor.

For anyone who possibly wants to convert other form formats into Koda's, here is Koda KXF format structure. Koda's format is very simple. It's conform to XML rules and can be easily parsed with other application. Also, other applications can write Koda's format.

Translation tips

Some items are not translateable, this is “Columns” for ListView and “Panels” for Statusbar. This is just property names. This can be changed in future though. Note about translating dynamic items. Some items are depends on what users have on their system.

Attaching controls

Some controls need to be “attached” to the another in order to work. For example, many controls can have context menu. But context menu is substitute control, so this is placed separately on the form. To let Koda know that this control should use certain context menu, you should select ContextMenu control from the “ContextMenu” property. In dropdown list you see only controls, that can be attached to this property.

TAControlGroup This is special control, designed for group some other controls together. Instead of Group control, this one doesn't have any properties (Left, Top etc are only for reference). Custom controls

Custom controls are controls that rely on UDF's. This mean that Autoit have not internal support for that controls and it's simplified standartized functions for creating control and set it's propertis will not work for those controls. Code Templates Editor

Welcome to the Koda help file. Koda was developed to help assist with the creation of forms (GUIs) for the AutoIt3 scripting language. Koda saves its form definition in a standard XML file with KXF extension. It includes all allowed control properties and styles. The interface has three principal parts: Main Window, Object Inspector and Form List Window.

Under this menu item are placed file converters from different formats to Koda own form format. Currently, only one AutoIt GUI item is available. It allows to convert any AutoIt GUI script to Koda format. Note: this is not perfect yet, and was basically made for old GUI scripts conversion, or those ones for what kxf file is missing. It does not support multiple GUIs in one file. So, if you have more then one, copy your GUI part manually to a new file and try to convert it.

Import Autoit GUI

Koda provides a conversion facility for Autoit GUI scripts into Koda's own form format. Using this dialog you can paste scripts from the clipboard or load a file using the Load button. The conversion function supports a single source script at a time. Object Inspector group contain special items “Property Group 1” - “Property Group 5”. Graphic editor

This is an editor for manipulating graphic shapes for Graphic control. Main part of editor is design area with grid, which can be disabled by unchecking “Show grid” option. At right side is list of all shapes which show their order. Top item in this list is the most lower shape. Under list is small prperty inspector where you can change shape properties. In statusbar is showing cursor point coordinates and count of shapes.

This is editor for creating imagelists. Add single... button add single icon, even for exe's with multiple icons and icon libraries. Add library... button add all icons from exe or icon library. Remove - remove current icon from the list. Clear List - remove all icons from the list.

This dialog is split in two parts. On left side there is a list of all icons available in chosen file (if applicable, this can be an icon library, exe, dll, ocx, etc.). This is common editor for menus, context menus and tray menus. When you first open the menu editor, you'll see an empty “virtual” item (it has a dot frame inside). Substitute controls

Five controls in Koda realization are substitute controls - Menu, ContextMenu, TrayMenu, Dummy and ImageList. Because, for example, a menu is not actually a control, Koda places a small square control onto form. Selecting this control enable you to change menu's properties, many of which defines menu structure. This “empty control” itself will not be visible on the result form, only the resulting menu.

Run Form

This command allows you to preview your GUI. Actually, Koda creates a temporary script file and runs it. In order for this function work properly, you should have AutoIt correctly installed and AU3 extension associated to it. Yet, you can provide these working settings manually at Koda's general options.

This is one of the most useful functions, especially when you work with multiple GUIs in one script. In order for this function work properly, all GUIs in your script should have path to form file. In this window you can see the list of all forms opened in the designer. You can not just switch between opened form, but also create new form or close existing. This can be done with buttons or via context menu.

Main Window

This is the main window. Here is main menu with all commands available in Koda, customizable toolbar and components palette. Palette is separated to four tabs: this is not highly meaningful, more for convenience, for shortening palette). To create new control on the form, click on desired control in palette, then click on design form - control will be inserted.

Object Inspector

Object Inspector contain two parts - a Combo with all form controls and Property Editor grid. The Combo allows you to access any control on form, even if control is hidden behind other controls. On Properties tab is placed the heart of Koda - Property Editor. Here you can change all properties of currently selected control. This is the grid containing pairs of property names and their values.

Object Tree Window

This window show hierarchy of all objects on the form being edit. You can switch between the objects - when selecting tree item, corresponding control is selecting as well. Control context menu is available here too. You also can select multiple objects with pressed key.
